MGV Forces and Orders of Battle: Selangor Selangor
MEK forces are supplied entirely by domestic sources. Scattered amongst the
founding states of Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore are numerous government
owned manufacturing facilities responsible for the fabrication of MEKs used by
the various force branches of the Selangor military. As with other
manufacturing, "state owned" does not mean as much as it sounds like, because
all workers have powerful contractual rights and their skills are in dire need.
The enormous bureaucracy of the Selangor defense industry mirrors that of the
other government controlled industries. Selangor exports approximately 40% of
their MEK production to foreign states including the Cape Union and numerous
territories loyal to the government in Singapore. Many of the later receive
their MEK weaponry as part of various subsidy packages meant to encourage
continuing loyalty, especially in areas within or at the edges of the periphery
of the conflict with Australia.
Selangor is one of the more politically
isolated of the major nations. It is at war with Australia and has
comparatively poor relations with the Med. States. Like other planetary
nations, Selangor has no close political ties with California. However they
also have no existing exchanges or technology agreements either, and relations
between Selangor and California are typically cordial at best. Selangor has
virtually no contact of any kind with Japan. Selangor MEK technology is
generally the least sophisticated of the major planetary powers, but with great
resources under their control, the Selangor military can often use MEK forces
in lavish quantities, which can still make as impact at a tactical level. As
the age old maxim goes: "Quantity has a quality all of its own."
Below
is listed a general order of battle for typical Selangor MEK formations
currently in service. As with other listings, the actual nomenclature used by
the country in question is used. In this case a direct translation from
Singaporean (a mix of Chinese, Malay and Thai dialects with numerous Russian
and Indian loan words) is used, which may result in unusual sounding
descriptions.
